The paddle, meat hook, and whipper do not reach bottom of bowl.
They also leave black marks in my food. The motor drags sometimes. I have only used it 10 times or so
because it seems harder to use it than to hand whip or blend.
So disappointed. I have always admired KitchenAid. I wanted one of these really bad and now regret even putting it on my Christmas wish list. The person who gave it to me was upset that I had issues with it. It's really pretty on my counter though!
I want KitchenAid to fix the paddles, etc. so that they reach the bottom and make them chrome like the other models. That would make me so happy!!!!

I used a mixer in school and although this is not as heavy duty as that one, it's still very nice. I was a bit surprised to feel the difference between the school paddle and the home paddle. The school one is heavier; in fact, the entire school machine is heavier, although this one is still heavy. It did not come with the plastic shield, the coated dough hook, or the coated paddle, but when I spoke to customer service, they willingly sent me those pieces. It runs smoothly, it's pretty powerful, and it's a lot faster with results than a hand mixer. I do really like it, because I love being able to walk away and do something else while my batter/dough/cream is being mixed. Ive made choux paste, tart dough, chantilly cream, deviled eggs, and a bunch of fillings since having it, and I have no complaints. The large bowl is excellent for everything I've made. I was told by customer service that the bowl lift mixers had a more powerful motor than the tilting head mixers, if you were worried about its strength. I think it's a pretty color and it's true to the picture as well. I hope this helps. Thanks!

I absolutely loved the color and was so excited to finally get a Kitchen Aid, which I had always thought was the mixer of all mixers - so disappointed. I only used it a couple of times and on the 4th or 5th time, using the food processor attachment it got over heated and stopped working. When it cooled and finally turned back on it made loud knocking noises and didn't work properly. I was told it sounded like the ball barrings were probably shot. Customer service said it was out of warranty and would probably be around $125-$150 to fix plus around $35 shipping or they could sell me a new one at a discount. After reading all the other similar reviews I don't feel it would be a good investment. It seems like this expensive machine is only good for simple small batches of cookies or pancakes, not bread or large quantity of food as advertised. I also think the tilt might have been better in terms of design because I had to purchase an accessory just so I could add ingredients while mixing due to poor access. Also as stated in other reviews the mixer doesn't get to the bottom of the bowl so you have to scrape from the sides AND bottom while mixing, which requires you to stop the machine and pull the bowl out several times during the process. I'm bummed and disappointed.

I got this home and opened it up and right away it doesn't work right. It only has 1 speed which is super fast and then it immediately shuts off after 10 seconds. I had to call in to the warranty service. It's going to take over a week to get it replaced. My whole family was super excited when I got it home. That was replaced by looks of disappointment. Hopefully the replacement works. Don't they test these things before they ship?

I have spent decades cooking and baking and have a great amount of skill and knowledge. Being elderly, I needed a better mixer that was easy to use and performed at a high level. I looked at a lot of reviews on Kitchenaid mixers when we saw ones on sale last year. So,I bought a mixer, Pro HD Series 5 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer in plum/boysenberry, from Sam's Club. It was on sale, and available in a lovely color.
Engineering speaking, this mixer does not work well. Because the head does not tilt but moves up and down, it is not user friendly. The bowl is extremely hard to attach and remove and equally the attachments are also hard to change. Because bowl does not move away from the head, to allow easy changing of beater, dough hook or whip, you have to struggle to change attachments. If you need to change in middle of a recipe, it is a complete mess, since you have to push the attachment down into your mix to remove. Sometimes you need to just remove the bowl with the attachment detached, in order to get attachment out of mix and bowl. Half of all the recipes I have made using this mixer, have turned out very badly. The beater, dough hook and whip do not even come close to the sides of the bowl, there is way to much distance between sides and the working of the attachments. This makes the recipe usually a failure, as the mix is not complete let alone uniform. In order to try and make the mix complete, you need to spatula the side constantly down into the mix. Once again, with the way the bowl and head are designed , this is very hard as the head does not tilt, the bowl only moves a minimal distance down, and there is limited room to use a spatula as a result. It also is very loud almost noisey mixer. I ended up using a hand held sunbeam mixer instead of using this mixer, until I could afford a replacement.
So we purchased a classic mixer as we were thoroughly disappointing with the design and engineering of the Pro Mixer. I am very happy with the classic, it is easy to use, head tilts for fast and easy attachment changes, and the bowl is easy to attach and remove. The attachments reach the sides and all the mixes come out nearly perfect.
Now, we have a pro mixer that really deserves to be pitched on to a garbage heap. Currently this is sitting in a box for almost a year now. It is of High concern as these mixers are currently being sold at places like Kohl's and Sam's and are very very expensive. I would consider this item truly in need of a recall.
I would like to know how to proceed with my complaint. Can this be returned to manufacture for refund ? If so can we send it back C.O.D. ? Is customer service at Kitchenaid responsible? We even have considered donating it to charity, but it was an awful expensive purchase for someone who is on a fixed income with minimal discretionary money to spend. Our only mistake, was we did not return the mixer to Sam's club fast enough for a refund. Let me know how I should proceed.

Bought this at a great price in January. The bowl lift feature takes getting used to. But, I have the hang of it after a few uses. This purchased in black to match my newly remodeled kitchen. Beautiful sitting on my counter. It replaced my mother's 40 year old stand mixer that I had been using and kept covered up because it was, well, old and used looking; however it worked fine. So far, noise level is good, mixes large batches. End of Pros. Cons:
Kitchen-Aid does not make a Flex Edge Beater for this model.AND they will not recommend a brand for you to buy. I contacted customer service who sent me instructions to adjust the bowl height. Bowl height is not the issue, it is the sides. I still have to stop periodically to scrape the sides. Oh, and btw, if you purchase and use another brand attachment, it voids your warranty. To be so insulted that the representative could not understand side scraping vs. bowl height!
The little indent in the bottom of the bowl-- stuff gets left down there too. No matter the adjusted bowl height. Ok, I'm living with that. Learned if you have liquid ingredients that can go in first, this helps.
Overall, other than the fact that it's pretty, it's no better than my 40 year old model. And sometimes, when I'm bowl scraping, I do get a bit miffed when I think about how much I paid for this eye candy.
Kitchen-Aid should listen to their customers who actually use their products and start packaging them with the most used attachments. Leave out the flex beater!

I had an artisan for 15 years and burned it out last year on a double batch of cookies. That mixer served me well. I thought I would upgrade to this model- a little bigger and a little beefier motor. Well, I'm still not able to double batches of cookies and the motor sounds like it's struggling. I expected better. Anything thicker than an icing and it sounds horrible. I'm disappointed. I don't think I'm going to get the life out of this one, and it's too late to return it now.

I finally got to use my stand mixer for Christmas dinner. It was wonderful being able to mash potatoes and stir gravy at the same time. I just put the potatoes in and the mixer needed very little attention to perform the task. It was great to get both tasks done at the same time and clean up was fast. I love this product.

I mixed pizza dough and hasn't worked since.
